Buyer research
Common pre-purchase questions on the HSD V-Horn.
Operators who want front-loaded-horn mid-bass impact but load in with two people and a van, not a box truck. At 24 × 24 × 36 inches and 155 lbs, it is the highest power density in HSD's mid-bass line, ideal for mobile rigs, discreet installs, and venues where footprint is the constraint.
1,400 W continuous (2,800 W program) at 8 ohms nominal, one channel per box on the HSD KP Series platform. Running two V-Horns in parallel presents 4 ohms and 2,800 W combined, which sits neatly on one channel of a KD Series 4-14KD (3,500 W into 4 ohms); a four-channel amp then drives eight cabinets.
The Hammer carries dual 18s, 2,400 W handling, and 108 dB sensitivity, the large-format choice at 48″ wide and 195 lbs. The V-Horn gives up some output for a 24″-wide cube that one strong pair of hands can move. Same job, different scale of show.
A common compact HSD rig runs Uppercut tops, V-Horn mid-bass, and Switchback subs, all truck-pack-friendly boxes, all passive, driven from a small KP/KD amp rack. The V-Horn's 62–300 Hz band bridges the two.
System design
The V-Horn brings horn-loaded punch to rigs that have to fit in a van.
Medium-format tri-amped top over V-Horn mid-bass: high output from a compact, two-person footprint.
Bass to 32 Hz in the same space-efficient philosophy. Switchbacks below, V-Horns on top for punch.
Two V-Horns per 4-14KD channel (4 ohms, 2,800 W), eight cabinets from one 2U amplifier.
