Buyer research
Common pre-purchase questions on the HSD Eagle.
The cabinet is designed for its best performance in grouped deployments: at 22.5 inches wide and 48 tall, Eagles rack side-by-side into tight, efficient blocks whose horn mouths couple, gaining low-frequency directivity and headroom as the cluster grows. One Eagle is a good sub; four Eagles are a disproportionately great one.
1,500 W continuous (3,000 W program) at 8 ohms nominal. Two Eagles in parallel present 4 ohms and 3,000 W combined, matched almost exactly by one 3,500 W channel of the HSD KD Series 4-14KD. A single 2U 4-14KD runs an eight-Eagle wall.
Both are single-18 FLH subs; the split is depth versus portability. The Eagle digs to 29 Hz (-3 dB) with 1,500 W handling in a taller 265 lb cabinet built for clustering. The Switchback gives up a few Hz (32 Hz) and 500 W to weigh 90 lbs less and pack flatter. Touring rigs that trailer their gear lean Switchback; installs and cluster builds lean Eagle.
Every Eagle is built to order in Massachusetts, with lead times typically around 90 days. It carries a 5-year limited warranty, and free factory training is included when your system is done. We will walk you through ordering and payment when we quote your system.
System design
The Eagle is built to gang up: clusters of Eagles under horn-loaded tops.
Wide-coverage point source reaching down to 90 Hz, crosses straight into an Eagle cluster.
For bigger builds, Cannons on top of the Eagle cluster own the 65–220 Hz band.
Two Eagles per 4-14KD channel, eight subs from one 2U amplifier.
