Buyer research
Common pre-purchase questions on the HSD Haymaker.
The Haymaker is a passive, tri-amped design, so plan three amplifier channels per cabinet: LF (1,200 W continuous), MF (400 W), and HF (400 W), each at 8 ohms nominal. One four-channel HSD KP Series amplifier (4-6KP: 4 × 1,500 W into 4 ohms) runs a single Haymaker with a spare channel, and the 4-10KP adds LF headroom. HSD presets with FIR crossovers load directly on the amp.
The Haymaker ships with customizable horizontal waveguides: 90 × 15 degrees for wide, short-throw rooms; 60 × 15 for general-purpose coverage; and 40 × 15 for long throw or tighter side-by-side arrays. Tell us the room and throw distance and we will spec the pattern with you before the build starts.
Yes. Integrated fly points are built into the cabinet, and at 155 lbs it is manageable for flown or ground-stacked deployment. It works as a standalone top for smaller productions and scales into a large-format system over HSD mid-bass and subs.
For touring weight, the Tomahawk 21″ FLH is the classic partner. For maximum low-end authority, the BattleAxe or Battlehawk reach usable output into the mid-20 Hz range. The Hammer dual-18 mid-bass horn uses an altered version of the Haymaker's own horn path, so the voicing match through the mid-bass region is seamless.
Yes. Every HSD cabinet is CNC-cut, assembled, polyurea-coated, and tested at the Hennessey Sound Design shop in Massachusetts. Lead times are typically around 90 days, and every cabinet carries HSD's 5-year limited warranty with free factory training when your system is complete.
System design
The Haymaker works standalone over subs on smaller shows and anchors full large-format HSD systems.
Built on an altered version of the Haymaker's horn path with 108 dB sensitivity. The natural mid-bass layer between Haymaker tops and HSD subs.
100 lbs lighter than the BattleAxe with 107 dB sensitivity. The truck-pack-friendly low end under Haymaker tops.
Three channels per Haymaker with FIR presets, per-channel limiting, and Smaart integration. One 4-channel KP amp per cabinet with a channel to spare.
