The Ballista is a medium-format line array module designed for full-spectrum performance in large-scale applications. Dual 12" low-frequency drivers, four 6" midrange transducers, and two 1.4" compression drivers deliver high output with exceptional mid-bass clarity and phenomenal off-axis coverage. Integrated flyware and ground-stack capability make it an affordable large-format solution; dedicated main hangers, carts, and padded covers are available. Hand-built by Hennessey Sound Design in Massachusetts, and backed by a 5-year limited warranty.

Each Ballista module is four-way (LF 2,600 W / MF 800 W / HM 180 W / HF 100 W, 8 ohms per section) on NL8 connectors. Plan one four-channel KP Series or KD Series amp per module; for larger hangs we will spec channel sharing across modules.

What amplification does a Ballista hang need?

Each module is a four-way passive design, LF (2,600 W), MF (800 W), HM (180 W), and HF (100 W) sections at 8 ohms each, wired through dual NL8 connectors. The straightforward plan is one four-channel HSD KP Series or KD Series amplifier per module with HSD FIR presets. On larger hangs, sections can share channels across modules, send us your module count and we will build the amp schedule.

How does the Ballista fly and ground-stack?

Integrated flyware is built in. The MH-24 main hanger ($3,850) supports up to 24 modules per side for flown arrays; the BC-3 cart ($2,200) carries three modules for fast truck packs and doubles as the ground-stack base; padded covers ($950) protect module and cart in transit. All three are in the additional products table.

What subs go under a Ballista rig?

The module holds -3 dB to 60 Hz with dual 12s and phenomenal mid-bass clarity, so it wants serious sub-bass below it: Battlehawk or BattleAxe ground stacks for touring, or Sherman bases when the show calls for the flagship.

Why choose the Ballista over a big point-source rig?

Coverage consistency over distance. A hung line of Ballistas controls vertical dispersion so front rows and back rows get the same mix, the physics that point sources cannot replicate past a certain room depth. With 115 dB HF sensitivity and four-way passive convenience, it is HSD's affordable route into true large-format line array.
