Buyer research
Common pre-purchase questions on the HSD Mantarray 90.
Two things: coverage and reach. The 90 throws a 90 × 40-degree pattern for wide rooms and shorter throws, and its low-frequency response extends to 90 Hz (-3 dB) / 75 Hz (-10 dB), deep enough to cross straight into subwoofers without a dedicated mid-bass layer. The Mantarray 60 trades width for array behavior and longer throw.
Two channels per cabinet: LF 800 W and HF 100 W continuous, both 8 ohms nominal. A four-channel HSD KP Series amp runs a stereo pair of Mantarray 90s with HSD FIR presets per channel.
Sixteen M10 fly points are built into the cabinet, with optional L-track or flybar accessories for flown deployments. At 100 lbs it also ground-stacks cleanly on subs for installs and pop-up stages.
Because it holds -3 dB to 90 Hz, it crosses directly into HSD's FLH subs. The Switchback or Eagle 18s suit compact rigs; the Tomahawk and BattleAxe 21s bring festival-scale weight underneath.
System design
The Mantarray 90 covers wide rooms alone over subs, or splits duties with its 60-degree sibling.
Same 12″ + 1.4″ point source in a 60 × 40 array-optimized pattern. Mix 90s for width and 60s for throw in one system.
Cluster-optimized sub with extension to 29 Hz. A pair under Mantarray 90s makes a serious compact horn rig.
Bi-amped: one 4-channel KP amp runs a stereo pair of Mantarray 90s.
