A downtown Austin EDM venue with three bars under one owner needed a system that handled headliner DJs without sacrificing conversation at the VIP seating. We mounted dual-12 horn-loaded tops sideways high on the ceiling, rotated the horns to point at the floor, and built a power-alley sub cluster from three dual 18 cabinets that originally lived at the legendary Kingdom nightclub two decades ago. Pristine coaxials in three CCM pairs cover the bar in zones, each with its own volume control on the FBS network. Behind it all: a wraparound LED video wall on Resolume + ADJ lighting + Symetrix DSP.
The brief
The operator owns three bars across the street and named this one "The Other Across The Street." Headliner EDM bookings, sustained crowd, and an after-2-AM crowd that wanted both dance floor and conversation areas. He had used BASSBOSS at his other venues for almost 10 years. The dance floor needed maximum SPL with limited real estate. The bar zones needed clean, even coverage that could be dialed independently as the night moved. The video wall had to wrap the room. The production manager runs sound, lights, and video off a single Symetrix-and-Resolume rig.

The result
The operator: "BASSBOSS is fantastic-sounding, particularly with the price. The low end can't be beat. And the highs are phenomenal as well. I've had Fullblast Sound for almost 10 years. Once you get the sound, that lasts a long time." The production manager described the power-alley sub cluster as exceeding the L-Acoustics subs at his last venue. The vintage SSP218s, originally legendary, are now legendary in a second room two decades later.

We own three bars across the street, so this one is called TOATS. The Other Across The Street. It is a beautiful place. You guys are gonna blow out, of course. We have used BASSBOSS at one of our other existing locations across the street from us. We had one in a property that recently shut down for redevelopment. BASSBOSS, we love it. We love the brand. We love everybody around it. It is a fantastic sounding system, particularly with the price. Like food, sound is subjective. But for my ears, BASSBOSS has got a great sound. The low end cannot be beat. And the highs are phenomenal as well. You put all that together at a price that makes sense. They are not expensive. They are affordable. I have had Fullblast Sound for almost 10 years. Once you get the sound, that lasts a long time, particularly as much as we close the system. Turn it up and create a great atmosphere. A lot of people will see, and they will roll up.

Operations + DJ
Basically, I run nightclub operations. I also produce music. I also DJ. I am really passionate about the scene, so I am really excited to be here opening up a new spot in Austin, Texas. That sounds crazy. It is crystal clear on the lows, like the entire frequency spectrum. Sounds perfect, no distortion. We really wanted to deliver a top tier experience here, and that is exactly what they are going to get. That includes the DJ. A good club starts with giving the DJ a good experience first, and then you go to the customers. On top of good sound, BASSBOSS equipment is really good and reliable. It is very powerful, and you can rely on it. A good example. Three of the subs here were from a legendary club years ago. They were put away for a little bit. They were banging day and night at the old venue. That was legendary in Austin, how badass that sound system was. And now they are coming to a new venue. Three SSP218s, over 20 years old, and here they are back in a club again tonight. I actually used to run that club. To see these speakers again and be reunited with them is actually a very special thing to me. So I am really excited to change the game up again with the exact same cabs. Those speakers are legendary, and we are going to keep that legend going.

Sounds good. Clean, crisp. BASSBOSS, I have been a fan of for a long, long time. We had these at our old venue, the Venue ATA on 6th Street. Originally these came from the old Kingdom, then went there, and then they came here. We paired them with some L Acoustics tops and it sounded really good. Honestly, and good to know, the BASSBOSS sub sounded better than the L Acoustics subs. You can push it so hard. The bass limitations, you can feel it. It is crazy. For the production side, we have the wraparound LED video wall on Resolume. Lighting on AbleLights. The main aspect for the club is going to be that wraparound LED wall. We are running sound through Symetrix, then the lighting and visuals off the same booth. When we have bigger shows, I will bring some people in to help.
